Charles Timmons called this morning to let us know that Marion passed away on Tuesday. The tumor and gallstones were the major factors. But she surely got an extra year on her own gumption for which I am glad. There will be a notice in the Post on Sunday and there will be a service Wednesday Sept. 10th, time to be decided, at 7211 Lee Highway in Falls Church. Charles is very busy right now making arrangements. I told him I would contact you. If you think of anyone else please let them know, either personally or through Comara.

Thanks, Ruth

Jack Hannon forwarded the above message from Ruth Bermon.

I am very sorry to pass along Ruth Berman's note indicating that Marion Timmons, longtime Secretary to Bill Berman when he was the General Counsel of COMSAT, has died unexpectedly. Sunday's Post will apparently provide details on her funeral next Wednesday in Falls Church.

I had spoken with Marion in July by phone. As I reported in the July COMARA Newsletter, she was very upbeat about her situation, and she was back to volunteering at a local hospital. But apparently a couple weeks ago she was overcome by a kidney stone attack, she entered a facility in Springfield near her son and she never made it out.

I remember her as a cheerful and straightforward person who really cared about COMSAT, its mission and its people. And I will never forget her story about how her father, a devoted son of Maine, approached his civic duty of voting: over many decades he consistently VOTED THE INCUMBENT OUT! (that sure does tend to limit how much you have to keep up on issues before voting!)

Please keep Marion and her son in your prayers.

Jack Hannon
COMARA President
