26-Feb-2007 Furthering the COMSAT Legacy From Steve Teller For the last few years we have been digitizing information so it is more widely available to the dispersed former employees of COMSAT. We now have several important pieces of information online and we are continuing the effort to get more and more online. While that is continuing (and hopefully picking up steam), we now have a lot of material to draw from to use as material for publishing more historical accounts of COMSAT. A year ago I joined the Board of Directors of SSPI (www.sspi.org) and at the first meeting I was approached by the education chairman about an issue devoted to COMSAT. I told him of our efforts to digitize lots of information and I wanted to get more of the effort completed before I started on this sort of effort. I recently told him that I felt that the digitizing effort had gone far enough to now support the research for the COMSAT issue. We are looking for volunteers to serve on an editorial board and for people to serve as authors for an issue of an online publication that is to be devoted to COMSAT. The Spring 2007 issue of the Online Journal of Space Communication (www.spacejournal.org) is planned to be devoted to COMSAT. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please send email to: teller@iotsystems.com indicating your interest. Thanks, Steve
