Since there is a certain amount of effort and expense in writing a
check for $10 and mailing it to us, consider writing that check for
$20, to cover both 2007 and 2008. For most of us, it won't make that
much difference, but it saves work for you and the treasurer.
Some features have just been added to the website so you can check on the status of your dues payments. After you sign in, your dues status appears in the top banner (following your name).
You will now see the dues payment history when you click on the link "Edit my profile" (appears after sign in). There is now a line near the top of the page that shows payments credited to you for 2006, 2007, and any future year(s).

We also try to maintain the status of email addresses that bounce and mailing addresses that are returned. We want to maintain contact with you. Email is the preferred media when available. We do mail about four newsletters a year to members who do not have working email. Nearly all newsletters are also posted on the web site, so you can read them at any time.
New features have been added to the website to let you know when we have a problem with either your email or mailing address. After you sign in, a message will appear in the bar just below the pictures to let you know if there is a problem with the email or mailing address in the database.

If your email is the problem, just enter your current email in the "Edit my profile" page and this should fix the problem. If there is a problem with mailing address, please send corrections to the webmaster or treasurer.
Email is flagged as bad when two subsequent emails bounce. The problem can be an inactive account or can be caused by spam control. If your email address is valid, and you find it listed as a problem, let the webmaster know. We'll find a solution.
The elected Directors get no pay - we pay the same dues as all
members. The dues payments are used to sustain the organization.
1. Web site hosting fees. (Includes email).
2. Periodic mailings to members without email addresses.
3. Periodic mailings to member with bouncing email addresses.
4. Guarantee for COMARA Socials (if required attendance is not met).
5. Organization expenses - bank account, postage, etc.
6. Maintain reserve for initial legal advice if ever needed.
The treasurer provides an annual report of dues status at the annual meeting - normally held in the fall. The biggest expense category is the cost of mailings. This also takes quite a few hours for the preparation, printing, stuffing, and mailing.
Look for the next newsletter shortly after the next Board meeting on March 27. We are planning the next social (Sept. 23, 2007 at "That's Amore" on Shady Grove Road).
