Burt Falkofske Memorial Service - Aug 28
(From wife Carla). Burt passed away Aug 16, 2008 at the Reston Hospital from cardiac arrest. He had been re-hospitalized earlier this week with respiratory distress. The doctor had seen him earlier in the morning and said he had gotten a big smile from Burt. At that time he saw nothing imminent. Burt arrested at 11:15. His struggle on earth is over and that is a blessing. A nurse at the hospital, who had been at Cameron Glen, said it very well. "This is what he has wanted for a long time, he is in a better place now."
In lieu of flowers we are asking that folks who wish donate to any of the following, or to a charity of choice in Burt's name.
Thank you all for your love, prayers and support over the past eleven long months. Love, Carla
Note: A Memorial Service for Burt was held on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Messiah United Methodist Church, 6215 Rolling Road, Springfield. Several COMSAT colleagues were in attendance.
_______________________________________________________________________Tish Fonda - Aug 15, 2008
We received the following from George Fonda about his wife, Tish Fonda, passing Friday, Aug 15.
Letitia (Tish) Fonda died on Friday, August 15, 2008 at her home on Marco Island, Florida. Her husband George Fonda and her daughter Heather Moore were at her side. Tish was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She was 63 years old at the time of her death.
As Manager of Exhibits and Special Events for Comsat Corporation in Bethesda, Maryland, she was afforded the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the world and work with colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. She was able to see her daughter, Heather grow up, graduate from college, get married to Timothy Moore, and enjoy her two beautiful and handsome grandchildren, Sophia and Anthony.
She married Navy Lieutenant George Fonda in Sydney Australia in 1968, while he was stationed there with the Vietnam R & R office. She was able to return every year to Sydney, sometimes twice a year, to continue her very close friendship with her childhood friends, particularly Susanne Matthews, Gay Humphries, and John Williams.
Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in New York City and All Saints Church in Sydney, Australia at a time convenient to her family. In lieu of flowers, it is Tish's wish that those who would like to, make a contribution in her memory to the Marco Island Parks and Recreations Department, 1361 Andalusia Terrace, Marco Island, Florida 34145 USA.
